Darauf folgend wurde die [[Medaille#EveBadge|Eve Medaille]] veröffentlicht, die man erhält wenn man drei neue Agenten (mit einem iPhone) wirbt.

Die Helios Anomalie ist mit 10 regulären Event-Tagen und zwei zusätzlichen Events (Helios #DICE in London und Helios New Agent Initiative) bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt die größte und umfangreichste Anomalie weltweit. Während der Anomalie wurde die iPhone-Version von Ingress veröffentlicht und Niantic hat nichts unversucht gelassen um möglichst viel Aufmerksamkeit und Anziehung auf neue Spieler auszuüben.

Im Rahmen der Helios Anomalie wurden neben den zehn hier beschriebenen noch zwei weitere Begleitveranstaltungen durchgeführt:

Handlung während der Anomalie

Im Juli 2014 hat Devra Bogdanovich den Portal Virus in das Portal Netzwerk gepflanzt. Dadurch sind Portale rapide verfallen und wurden so leichter angreifbar. Durch weltweite Anstrengungen und durch erzeugen von vielen und vor allem großen Feldern wurde die Wirkung des Virus wieder vernichtet. Etwa zeitgleich veröffentlicht Oliver Lynton-Wolfe die Nachricht, dass der Scanner jetzt auch für iOS-Geräte verfügbar sein wird. Darauf folgend wurde die Eve Medaille veröffentlicht, die man erhält wenn man drei neue Agenten (mit einem iPhone) wirbt.

Martin Schubert entwickelt die Theorie, dass Control Fields beider Fraktionen zusammen mit über 700 Millionen Mind Units bis zum Ende der Messung der ersten Helios Anomalie den Effekt des Virus eindämmen können ([1]). Das Ziel wird erreicht und eine weitere Ausbreitung oder Verschlimmerung des Virus soll damit verhindert werden.

Während der Anomalie tauchten in San Diego und Dublin Dokumente auf, die darauf hinweisen, dass der Effekt des Portal Virus komplett zurück genommen werden kann wenn die Helios Artefakt zu zwei Portalen geleitet werden können ([2]). Als Reaktion auf den Rückschlag des Virus durch die Felder mit mehr als 700 Millionen Mind Units, hat Bogdanovich einen erneuten Virus freigesetzt. Dieser muss nun durch das Erreichen von einer Milliarde Mind Units bis zum Ende des zweiten Event-Tags am 9. August bekämpft werden. Dieses Ziel konnte nicht erreicht werden.

Der Portal Virus hat auch Auswirkungen auf Roland Jarvis. Es gibt Gerüchte, dass er zunehmend Beschwerden hat. Spekulationen zufolge hat es mit dem verringerten XM Ausstoß als Nebenwirkung des Portal Virus zu tun. Ein Gespräch zwischen Schubert und Jarvis klingt besorgniserregend ([3]). Auf Nachfrage wollte Jarvis' Organisation Society for the Ethical Treatment of AIs dieses Gespräch allerdings nicht bestätigen und betrachtet es als Fälschung und gezielte Diskreditierung des Enlightened-Führers.

Im August gibt es auch Berichte, dass ADA unter den Auswirkungen des Virus zu leiden hat, da offenbar die Rechenkapazität nachnässt. Ein Gesprächsverlauf mit Jay Phillips deutet darauf hin ([4]).

Anfang September gibt es dann deutliche Beweise für Jarvis' Zustand als ein Überwachungsvideo veröffentlicht wird. Dort ist Jarvis zu sehen, anfangs sichtlich geschwächt und wenige Minuten wieder agil und gesund, nachdem er sich in einer Einrichtung offenbar einer Behandlung unterzogen hat. Es wird vermutet, dass Dunkles XM etwas damit zu tun haben könnte. Jarvis hat offenbar eine "Schülerin", die sich selbst Acolyte nennt. In einem Gespräch nennt sie Jarvis ihren Lehrer, der ihr vom Universum und dem "Ultimativen" berichtet. In diesem Gespräch wird auch klar, dass Jarvis sie verlassen wird und zum "Ultimativen" zurückkehrt.

Zum Ende der Anomalie taucht ein Video auf, das Hank Johnson zeigt, der seit Juni 2014 untergetaucht war. In einer Überwachungseinrichtung zeigt sich, dass die Helios Artefakte weltweit eine Leuchtbake, ein Beacon, formen. Diese sendet eine Nachricht an die, die von den Shapern am meisten gefürchtet werden. Später bekommt diese Bedrohung auch einen Namen: Die N'zeer.

Ablauf der Anomalie

Die Helios Anomalie ist mit 10 regulären Event-Tagen und zwei zusätzlichen Events (Helios #DICE in London und Helios New Agent Initiative) bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt die größte und umfangreichste Anomalie weltweit. Während der Anomalie wurde die iPhone-Version von Ingress veröffentlicht und Niantic hat nichts unversucht gelassen um möglichst viel Aufmerksamkeit und Anziehung auf neue Spieler auszuüben.

Sowohl am zweiten Helios Event-Tag in San Diego bei der Messe ComicCon als auch bei der DICE in London haben John Hanke und James Frey gemeinsam das neue Projekt on Niantic Labs vorgestellt: Endgame. Für Ingress ist es die zweite wichtige ComicCon seit 2012 Tycho dort von XM und Portalen berichtet hat.

Helios #03 und #04 am 9. August war bis dahin der größte Event-Tag einer Ingress Anomalie mit mehr als 1000 Spielern jeweils in Hong Kong und Taipei sowie 800 in Chicago.
